Grown in the warm, sunlit hills of Taoyuan, this Oriental Beauty comes from one of Taiwan’s most renowned regions for this unique style of oolong. The lower elevation and strong summer light create ideal conditions for both leaf growth and the presence of the small leafhopper insects that define this tea.
Its characteristic sweetness is the result of a natural interaction: as the insects feed on the leaves, the plant responds by producing aromatic compounds. Farmers carefully select these curled, bitten leaves, which are then transformed through a multi-step process of outdoor and indoor withering, oxidation, pan-firing, rolling, and roasting.
The infusion is expressive and aromatic, with notes of wild honey, ripe stone fruit, and soft florals. The texture is smooth and rounded, with a gentle richness balanced by a lively, lifted finish. There is a natural elegance to its sweetness, never heavy, but layered and persistent.
